BBC Travel website ; Going, going, gone!

Very disappointing to hear that the very useful travel website, as below, is to close.
Sure Beeb could find funds from elsewhere such as excessive salaries paid to so many there
especially the presenters sad.gif
https://www.bbc.co.uk/travel/berkshire/incidents/road

Such a useful site to refer to when setting out on a journey.

Can you point me to the bit of Google maps that reports on traffic incidents?

I don't know exactly how it does it by Google Maps on my Android phone pops up traffic adversaries telling me the state of the local traffic - if it's not doing it for you have a look in the app settings and see if you can turn on the feature.

I have a SatNav that does that for me smile.gif I was actually thinking of the PC version, rather than the Android one. While we're on Google Maps, I don't know how we managed before StreetView - if I have to go somewhere new or pick up someone from a house I don't know, I usually check it out first with StreetView so I know what to look out for.

I agree, although I enjoy the best of all possible worlds (as they say) as my car will with the aid of a data SIM display Google maps AND streetview on my satnav screen! Bliss! Tech eh, gotta love it sometimes.

There's a "traffic" option under the "menu" just left of the place name dialog - that brings up live traffic on a google map on my PC browser.

Thanks for that. I did not know that. Looks like traffic is at a standstill at the Andover Road end of Buckingham Road up to the school entrance.

Edit: Oh no - it's the other side of the road, waiting to get out on to the Andover Road.
