QUOTE (TallDarkAndHandsome @ Mar 15 2019, 07:12 PM) Why do you need to 'live stream anyway" And used for nefarious purposes like this its just evil.
You are giving all extremists live footage to the world of the atrocities they commit. Shut it down. Only a matter of time, they'll all be doing it now. I've said it before and I'll say it again, soschul meedja is a curse.

I agree about your comment regarding social media. However, I also tend to believe that as an adult, I should decide what I do or do not watch on any media. I am not a believer is censorship by "authorities". Whether or not I want to see people being killed in (or near) live time should be a matter for me. Perhaps if more people saw the raw and bloody footage of killing in wars, we might have a few less people so willing to commit troops to places like Iraq

Censorship will not stop these acts happening anymore than sending a gunboat up the euphrates will solve the middle east's problems. If we object to people doing things that some of us find objectionable then we shouldn't have developed the internet, or guns, or cars, or football clubs, or anything else that we take for granted that leaves a footprint.

It will stop people getting vicarious pleasure from it or children seeing it. I remember a work colleague watched the Ken Bigley murder video as an act of bravado and was very upset by it. In my opinion particularly as the person filmed it in order to live stream, extra effort should be made to get rid of it wherever it appears. Just like the executions of Westerners.

One can liken that approach to those who visit a bull fight and come away vowing to never return, but had they, and everyone else who wanted to "see" it for the first time, not gone anywhere near the wretched place it would have died out years ago. As a child I behaved in a childish manner but as an adult I am well aware of what is acceptable and what isn't.

Perhaps older children need to see this sort of thing. It may help them understand that real life doesn't have a Restart key, unlike their virtual reality games

It may help them understand that real life doesn't have a Restart key, unlike their virtual reality games Take yours to an Islamic country then and they can see for themselves. Personally, I'd rather shield mine from it.
