If the Iphone 4G was accidently left in a bar as reported and Apple didn't want pictures leaked all over the web surely they could have slapped a cease and disist notice on them. Me thinks this may have been a bit of cheap marketing.

Apparently Bill Gates tried leaving his new Microsoft "Kin" phone at a bar... It's still there.

Strange how we still call them 'phones', when in fact they are now general purpose devices which just happen to have a phone capability!!

Well it'd be a bit clunky to have to say:

"Sorry - let me just answer this call on my general-purpose-device-which-just-happens-to-have-a-phone-capability"

Or

"I'll general-purpose-device-which-just-happens-to-have-a-phone-capability you later, okay?"

I didn't suggest calling them anything else, I simply stated a fact

I wouldn't say that is was old technology exactly, but a renewed solution to an age old requirement. With the advance of miniaturisation in electronics we get more for less. humans want 'freedom' as with the motor car. I agree that people DO fall for marketing, much more than is healthy for a sustainable society. Funnily enough, when in the pub the other evening, one of the older guys said that he saw two teenagers , I quote, 'totally abusing their phones by messaging each other when they were in the same room'. I tried to explain that we saw them invented, so it didn't affect the way in which we used 'phones/devices', because we already had established lifelong experience without them.
