Hi we are looking to purchase a property only it was flooded in July 2007 following extreme rainfall and the drainage networks couldn't cope. We are stuggling to get building and contents cover and wondered if anyone else had purchased a proprety recently which was flooded and if you can offer any advice.

People that live in the same property since the flooding can currently obtain a renewal of insurance through their exisitng providers although I have been advised that this legislation is changing next year and they may also find it difficult.

Any advice or personal experiences greatly received

I can ask my Mum if you want. When I was living at home we were flooded out (RG19 postcode) and I think she's got cover although it's with the same company... as per the second part of your post.
