Does anyone know who runs the Newbury parking like a Tw*t page on Facebook? The reason I ask is because there seems to be a huge influx of posters (including the admins) who seem to condone damaging other vehicles which are deemed to be parked "like a ****" - obviously parking like a **** being relative to person taking the photo. Someone, for example, must have taken a screenshot of my friends car, that he took - outside my house, washing his car . The poster claimed "had to walk around the car on the road, blocking the pavement". The only person who walked past was one of my friendly neighbours who has a lovely dog who we chatted to for a bit and she didn't take any photos! in a quiet , high end cul de sac, with enough room to get a triple buggy on the path and a past on the road. So clearly was a fake submission and the admin would not delete it for a long time instead arguing about it and saying they wouldn't say who submitted it because they are "anonymous" but there's no anonymity for the cars (and owners) involved? They claim no-one is outed but for £3 or something you can get the registered keepers address from the DVLA and it's not hard in a small-ish town to note the plate and figure out where the car lives if you wanted to cause some damage. Any of you remember andy1979uk? He's on that page also and up to his usual "benefits / scum / immigrants / children / keying cars" power trip. random rant for the random rant section.

QUOTE (Turin Machine @ Mar 14 2016, 01:54 PM) Most of the posters are breaking the law by using a mobile phone whilst in charge of a motor vehicle. GCHQ, eat your heart out.

QUOTE (newres @ Mar 14 2016, 03:38 PM) I hate that page. The admin is an obnoxious prat and some of the parking "crimes" are ridiculously innocuous. I noticed that. And why is everyone with a nice car automatically hated?

I'm surprised I'm not on there because one if my great joys is being able to use an empty car park early morning, when I can just ignore the lines with immunity....bliss! I'm not going to tell you what car I drive, it still has wind up windows, looks like a van and certainly isn't fashionable!

QUOTE (Berkshirelad @ Mar 14 2016, 02:17 PM) As is washing a car on the highway I'm not sure that is true. It is illegal to block the highway and to pollute the water way, but I don't think it is illegal to wash your car on the road.

QUOTE (je suis Charlie @ Mar 14 2016, 02:22 PM) As is driving a modified vehicle without notifying your insurance co. Who does that? Not quite sure what your point is. Also if you were a long-standing member on this forum you'd know all about Mr Andy.

Correct. Trades people need to use either suitable chemicals , or no chemicals at all. Or in the case of home / private users then you need to again be careful of the chemicals you use. Bit of water and PH neutral shampoo doesn't hurt anyone. Then again, the statement earlier regarding legality was spoken like a true "parking like a ****" page member! Probably doesn't think twice taking his car to the Polski's where a third of the work force are illegals. See no evil, eh :-)

Everyone I know (including myself) who has a modded car, has full disclosure of their modifications with their insurance company (in my case down to a sticker in my rear window). Personally I have about £16k tied up in my car and for the sake of saving £20 a year it's not worth the risk, no? :-) Specialist insurers cater to the modified car enthusiast who keeps their vehicle in a much better state of repair than your average motorist and as such often gets better prices If you are talking about a 17 year old in a Corsa thats bare low init then perhaps they have not declared their modifications. But please don't tarnish the whole car modification scene with your assumptions!
