Just a bit of reliable gossip I thought I would pass on to all you M&S fans who are tired of lugging your M&S food through Northbrook Street...

M&S is to open a new branch at the Retail Park in October - in the unit previously occupied by Borders. I was told this would have a café on the upper floor, as well as some non-food offerings - the ground floor being devoted to food.

For anyone like me with a serious Percy Pig addiction, you will be able to park your pantechnicon right outside and load up! Hurrah! biggrin.gif

Not actually a rumour - this is fact this time, Ossy but I don't blame you for your cynicism given the quality of some of the information posted here!! wink.gif

I agree it is a fact, when I went into M&S they confirmed it.

So that'll be 4 M&S within a few miles of town?

I now await all those who complained about Tesco taking over....

4 M&S branches? - Do you mean at Chieveley Services and the BP garage on London Road?

I'm not sure two measly Simply Food outlets at petrol/service stations constitute 'branches' - and certainly don't replace what we had in the town before - a large food section with adequate parking outside. Can't blame M&S for trying to hold onto their food customers they are losing because of the Parkway fiasco.

Tesco were, in my opinion, just trying to 'block' any competition - not sure this is the case with M&S?

I know it did but Fuel Juice bars are in a league of their own. I tried the one in The Kennet Center but it wasnt very nice.

That'll be why they didn't last a year then!

Problem with a smoothie, more calories and more expensive than a pint of beer biggrin.gif
