Yay! big up to the person(s) who passed this sentence! Now you can all go home and give yourselves a big pat on the back while sat in your ivory castles, seperated from the real world by, oh let's say 6 trillion light years! As a certain 'comedy' character may say:- "What a ****in' liberty!!"

QUOTE (Bill1 @ Sep 23 2009, 09:39 AM) This topic doesn't seem to be bothering many people Maybe I should start another one about bollards............... Sadly too lenient sentences seem to be the norm these days, so maybe people just read, shrug their shoulders and move on.

QUOTE (Sarah @ Sep 23 2009, 12:56 PM) Bollards are second only to football it seems, and equally as riveting. I do understand your annoyance that people seem to be ignoring the thread, but there are only so many times you can say the same thing. Sentencing is far too lenient for most offences and we can say it until we are blue in the face, but no-one listens. It all boils down to those in power knowing best ! Did they not once reflect the views of those they represent ? Or was this another case of rose coloured glasses .

Bollards are contentious, where as I would imagine we are all in agreement on this. I don't fancy the perpetrators life from here on though.

QUOTE (Chesapeake @ Sep 23 2009, 02:08 PM) Unfortunately there are guidelines in sentencing that have to be followed in order to maintain consistancy across the board. I should imagine that some judges go home totally frustrated with the sentences that they have had to pass. They have feelings too you know and are also possibly parents. We understand all that, but what we are saying is that the guidelines need reviewing.

QUOTE (Biker1 @ Sep 23 2009, 03:22 PM) Like I've said before - when a political organisation comes up with policies on toughening up on things like this they are branded "right wing extremists". For example?

QUOTE (Iommi @ Sep 24 2009, 10:28 AM) Do you think they are not right wing extremists? Yes they are but they are calling for the very things that are being suggested on here in their crime & punishment policy.

QUOTE (Biker1 @ Sep 25 2009, 11:09 AM) Yes they are but they are calling for the very things that are being suggested on here in their crime & punishment policy. And this is why the BNP are starting to gain votes. If the main stream parties continue not to listen to the public asking for a more stringent line on crime and ASB and continue to demonstrate a contempt such as the expenses scandal then you can be sure that more people will vote for the BNP or UKIP. Bit of a worry eh?
