Before the weekend is upon us and the biannual rigmarole of altering the clocks descends , a quick straw poll to the 3 or 4 contributors to this forum on their thoughts .
1. Retain the present system of altering twice a year ?
2.Stay on GMT ? ( ie winter time )
3.Stay on BST ? ( summer time ).
4. Don't know ? ( admission of not caring unacceptable as an excuse ).
The pros and cons have been discussed ad infinitum and still we are stuck with something that has no relevance today .

Go to European time.
Any particular part of Europe ? Iberian peninsular for me but the old eastern block time would suit those who wish to finish work early .

Good shout. Go the same as the krauts and cheese-eating surrender monkeys.

BST +1 = GMT +2 (or UTC +2).
BST = GMT +1 (or UTC +1).

Stay with BST and stop the bi-annual farce.
The Scots, while they are still with us, would probably not agree though.
OK for us Southerners!!

Maybe we should adopt the North Korean principle and go to a half hour difference . Please most of the people most of the time .

We need to maintain the status quo so that we are always exactly 1 hour behind CET/CEST. This is because CET/CEST is the standard time zone of the European Union, who are still our biggest trading partner.

How is being a trading partner relevant to the position of our clocks ? Surely it is within the capability of even the most junior member of any company to add/subtract an hour in order than we don't interfere with their three hour lunch break ? Before someone cites the fact that they will be at work before us , I suggest they start work earlier and stop winging .
