When I was a kid we didn't even have that... we had a piece of string connected to two old tin cans. wink.gif

They'd invented string and tin cans back then?

Good point... maybe it was grass connected to seashells.

Just an update on the original: the problem has now been escalated by the Web Relations team - they have been great.

Obviously the best way to get service for anything is to post a random rant to a random web site, and bypass the official channels!

Exactly, why can they not have a call escalation system where they can deal with 'difficult' issues.

I've been with Vodafone since I moved here over 2 years ago. I've never had a problem, they've always given me what I needed, although I agree my initial contact costs were about £50 a month, which was ridiculous! a few months before my 18 month contract had run out, I had a call from VF asking me if I wanted to upgrade my phone and take out a new contract. The previous month I'd dropped my phone in the bath and it had stopped working so I went to the store and bought a new one (£30 - works like a charm), so I declined the upgrade. They then informed me that they could then cut my monthly tariff down and I would no longer be on a contract, just pay monthly and can cancel or upgrade whenever I want.

My tariff is now £12.50 per month and I get 300 minutes and 1000 text messages. Good enough for me. =)

I do agree that it can be difficult to get results when there is a fault. With all the redundancies, there just isn't enough support to handle all the faults! But if there's any bad press, they'll treat it as top priority wink.gif

I used to work for Vodafone for 8 years and can honestly say they are the worst type of employer. You are not an employee. Just an employee number.

I get the impression that they were once a very good employer but as those who founded the company and had roots in the area have moved on they'be become more and more money oriented and much less interested in people and the local community.

Perhaps some of those on the inside could let me know whether or not my impression is correct.

The impression is correct. I know many people who work at Vodafone and who have told me exactly the same. Also I haven't spoken to one person who has a good word to say about vodafone; either their working conditions or their services.

my first mobile was Vodafone; now i am with somebody else and they give a better service.

Others mileage may vary but...

last year, I personally received £1800 for a charity I work with. Others received similar amounts.

I'm assuming there is a heavy dose of humour intended there.
