Not quite, the top few bricks at the back dropped off this afternoon and landed on top of a Range Rover. The police reacted when somebody rang them this evening, four hours after the event and they closed off Kings Rd and Boundary road. The roads are open but the estate is closed off until the WBC surveyor has had a look.
From what I know of the tower, there's no chance of it falling down, it's a steel structure with a brick skin. But better safe than sorry I guess.
That old tower has been decaying for years and will just get worse which problem should be resolved if the Sterling Estate planning application ever gets off the ground

Loved the line "..when a man claimed a brick had fallen onto his head.."

Was this before or after calling for an ambulance. A brick falling from just a few feet onto your head will hurt. Change that to tens of feet and you'll be lucky to live.

If it had you wouldn't be coming on here for a while unless from a mobile as all Newbury and the surrounding area's landline and data comms. and many mobile comms. go through that building
