Then again Jeremy Hunt is hardly a "nice person".

That problem does affect many people. Myself included on occasion. Ultimately we are social creatures.
But when you think TV is company then something is wrong laugh.gif

Isn't that what any politician does though?

Tries to say things that sort of relate to most people
Gets voted
Becomes an ****.

And this from a party who have withdrawn benefits for people that will now make it even harder to be surrounded by family.

Describe what benefits have been "withdrawn".

I am sure well-off people can be lonely as well. Not just those on benefits. So I don't understand your argument.

'Bedroom Tax' is one wink.gif

You can't educate pork it seems. I'm not saying it is the only reason! rolleyes.gif

It is quite simple really, a high ranking Tory attacks the country's attitude to others, yet have rolled out policies that make it even harder for some.

Even with the wink, there is no such Tax.

(There's always one rolleyes.gif ) The inverted commas should have told you I didn't say there was, but the effect on some is the same.

Far be it from me to stir things up, as you are now ignoring posts, but perhaps some help might be welcomed.
Was it implied that you were as thick as pork belly. mellow.gif ?

I had pork belly last week and it was very thick and very tasty, and nicely crackly.
Perhaps it was along the lines of chucking a silk purse into water only to recover an ear.
Still a bit foxed I am.

Whatever. I am agreeing with JeffG anyway. Loneliness and wealth have gone hand in hand.
Did Oscar Wilde not write about the Selfish Giant? Wealthy but lonely..Selfish to protect himself from hurt.
An extra bedroom has nothing to do with loneliness. Practical solutions perhaps.

Ha - I couldn't resist, could I? smile.gif Maybe I was a bit hasty - though it's the first time I've ever done that. Ignore off.

Now off to watch the start of the new Montalbano series on my TV friend...

It wasn't what Mr Hunt said that was wrong, it just doesn't sound right coming from someone who represents a government who has taken steps to make people more likely to be lonely, until, that is, at some point people who are less fortunate will be forced to share living space due to poverty or the cost of fuel, etc... or perhaps that is it; that's the plan.
