Can we take it, that today is a slow day for local news around Newbury.
I'm sure Chris Tarrant is a very nice man and I wish him a speedy recovery, however given what I believe are his fairly tenuous links to the area (I'm perfectly happy to be corrected on this!), is it necessary to report his current problems on this site. The national papers seemed to have it well covered.

The presenter is regular visitor to the area. In August he hosted Chris’s Chapel Row Cup Challenge at the annual Chapel Row Fayre, and in July he opened new play equipment at Brimpton Primary School.

Regular being twice in 2 years?
I'm a regular to Manchester then.

Per Daily Express:
Celebrity traveller- Chris Tarrant

TELEVISION and radio broadcaster Chris Tarrant, 66, lives near Newbury in Berkshire;

&

(undated piece from D Mail:)

Chris Tarrant banned from driving for speeding

Chris Tarrant was slapped with a fine for more than £700 pounds and suspended from driving overt two speeding violations.

Tarrant tried to avoid the ban by pleading with magistrates that life would be too tough for him if he couldn't drive.

Tarrant, who recently split from wife Ingrid after details of a string of affairs came to light, also told the court how he couldn't use a bus because of his long working hours.

He also said that - despite his massive £30 million pounds fortune - he could not hire a chauffeur.
But magistrates in Newbury, Berkshire, refused to listen to his complaints and banned him from getting behind the wheel for six months.

He lived in Bucklebury for years, and was (quietly) busy in the local community.

What a pity the Newbury Today reporter didn't simply say that.
I would never have started this thread if they had. Typical of the NWN though.

Get well soon Chris

I do hope BP give me a shout out when I'm unwell.

I haven't seen him for a while thankfully, but there was a time that Keith Chegwin used to regularly shop in Waitrose (or Somerfield as it may have been then) in Thatcham. Always a scary sight as I could never get my brain to disassociate him from the image I came across one night while channel hopping on the TV and mistakenly clicked on the 'hugely popular game show Naked Jungle'

The image of a hyperactive Keith Chegwin leaping around a (obviously cold) jungle set wearing nothing over than a pith helmet was indelibly etched onto the back of my eyeballs. Give me news articles about Chris Tarrant any day.... blink.gif

Just seem this, not all that interesting but confirms Tarrant as a local resident.

They say you shouldn't go to bed angry and here I am reading the Daily Mail way past midnight!

Friend of mine owns a shop in Bucklebury and Chris was a regular there. Also Melinda messenger shops at waitrose Thatcham occasionally.

Saw cheggers in town a while back as well as Bruno Brookes.

My life with the stars eh?

I saw kid Jensen on a train once! He was in first class though so I didn't harass him.

Was that when he was "Kid" or just a "David"?
