You have got to be joking?

Respect to the man that sustained injury but for god sake, a burn to the hand which caused an air ambulance to arrive to pick him up and to fly him to hospital is a joke! A waste of time and money if you ask me, im still shocked now as im writing. Hopefuly i'm right in saying it was just a burn to the hand, yeah it could of been very serious but an ambulance would of done the job...

Does everyone agree with me?

Totally disagree.

The casualty wound not have sat there demanding to be flown to hospital. The decision would have been made by the senior paramedic attending, in consultation with a burns specialist. It would have been based on a clinical need and nothing else.

I disagree, i think the casualty was sat there with a cup of tea in one hand, a wet towel in the other laughing and joking with paramedics and asking if he could be flown to hospital.

I still don't see this proof that services were misused. We don't know the circumstances in the matter, so I think it inappropriate to judge - I do see that he was flown to Salisbury, suggesting special care needs were required. I'd like to think that perhaps one day I might celebrate the special care my family or myself might receive in similar circumstances, rather than throw scorn on someone else's misfortune.

I do agree though. On first impressions, it does seem rather over the top, but I would like to think it was for good reason.

Being taken to Odstock is usually a sign of full-thickness burns as there is one of the UK's top burns and reconstructive surgery teams based there.

It was probably a case of needing to get him into surgery as quickly as possible - imagine how long a road journey would have taken in comparison.
