I'm standing for election to the Town Council in the Northcroft ward, and I'd be interested to see how opinions stand while we're still a few weeks away from the election. Care to vote?

Vote for four candidates please - and don't worry if you don't live in the ward or even in the town, I'm just trying to gauge support. Thanks.

Thanks for that Strafin, I' grateful for your support - I'd be pleased if you'd vote in the poll anyway.

I wish you well Simon in trying to sort out this present shambles that we have managed to accumulate over the last decade? If only I could believe that the precept payers can be bothered to look at their consciences and do the right thing this time? unsure.gif
I hope you can fair better than Ruwan though? angry.gif

This, I'm afraid, goes to show that the contributors to this forum are not a true cross section of Newbury voters.
That is, unless we end up with an Apolotical council in which case I will eat my words! rolleyes.gif
(Voting at time of post shows them well ahead).

...or lie about their voting habits.

I'm interested in the Apoloticals but have not read anything about what they are for yet. Sadly, my philosophy isn't aligned with Simon's, so I'm unsure about things at the moment. I certainly won't vote Tory, Lib Dem or Labour.

As far as I can see the only thing the Apoliticals have in common is a distaste for party politics in local government (forming an anti-party party has always confused me). So to understand what they are for as opposed to against you need to ask them individually.

At least with Simon his views are pretty well documented in this forum.

Well they have my backing if it will break the hold of the shambles we have put up with for at least the last decade! rolleyes.gif
Conservative and Liberals have ignored what the electorate wants in Newbury and have treated the electorate with complete disdain with no transparency and underhanded dealings. angry.gif
As for Manifesto's I think most parties have proven they are meaningless and have abandoned them withing a few days of being elected anyway so it won't be any different voting for an Apolitical as far as I can see? unsure.gif
