Why did it take 45 minutes to get 1 Police Community Support Officer to attend an incident in Batholomew Street that had been reported as 'violent' and involved drug addicts attacking and trying to rob a man who had just withdrawn money from the cashpoint machine? The man ended up in hospital.

45 minutes is not good enough and 1 PCSO? angry.gif

Because the police are badly managed and under resourced?

Not suprising as there former boss is an 'alleged' crook.

It just shocks me that if a violent crime is reported no immediate response appears to be made to the incident.

It's almost as if they are waiting for the incident to be over before attending.... sad.gif

Pretty underwhelming isn't it. A violent crime committed and a totally inadequate Police response.
Sadly not an isolated one either.
The joke is that we are being asked to pay more money this year for what appears to be a seriously ineffective force.

That is not an excuse. They should not be either and we all should be demanding an improvement.

Smart response again Ossy.
Would you think there is an acceptable reason why law abiding citizens get beat up and robbed in Newbury without a timely Police response?

On the face of it, it would appear the Police are inadequate but then positive things make for boring news.

Yes but it is a serious issue, especially if you're the one getting beat up and robbed.
It is not acceptable.

So what are the facts of the case? Until someone posts a link or a source it's all hearsay.

Yes, I agree - if true, no doubt local television, at the least, would be interested to say nothing of the Daily Mail.

I'm sure it will be in Newbury Today in a day or two. The victim was a well known local Indian restauranteer from Bart street. He has a broken finger.

I never said it was acceptable I simply asked if the question had been asked of the organisation being criticised!

It does sound like an unusual response if the incident was reported as stated here.

If this is response time close to District's police station, gawd help those of us in sticks angry.gif

May also be why miscreants feel area is safe to carry out this type of crime as chances of having shoulder felt are minimal.

It's noticable in US where they spend far less per head on police than we do here, that there's a far more visible presence of police walking on the sreets, and police cars driving by.

The level of hostility you see on some police programmes from drunks/lay abouts towards them shows they just don't command any respect/fear as they used to. ohmy.gif

Before criticising the Police, or anyone, should we not establish the facts first?

My my, we do have a high opinion of ourselves! It wasn't a jibe at you it was a joke about the amount of people who dial 999 to ask stupid questions.

Whilst I do agree with you, I do think that perception of police activity is very powerful and something that they need to address to stop people's opinions being so low in the first place.
