England: £7.20
Scotland: Phased out by 2011
Wales: No charge since 2007
Northern Ireland: £3 from January 2009, phased out by April 2010

So the English get taxed again whilst the rest of the country gets away with it.
No change there then.

And another thing. I was in a queue (again) waiting to pay my £14.40 tax for my pills to keep me alive and the woman in front of me was asked - Do you pay? To which the reply was - No I don't as I don't work and I'm just off to the Pub.
So I did some research and found out that less than 10% of peope actually pay.
Give me strength..........

I see your point and it's ridiculous that we still have to pay while the rest of the country (and 90% of people out there) are getting let off... but I'm not complaining... I'm from Canada and although we get free health care there (minus dentist, eye care and specialty care) we have to pay for our prescriptions. My mother had a stroke during open heart surgery to replace a valve 5 years ago and she has to pay full price for all her medication. I'm not sure what her costs would be now, but when I was still living at home, I had to pick up her medication for her once and it was near $200.

Then when you think of America, they have to pay for absolutely everything.

I do think we are lucky for what we have and £7.20 is a price I really don't mind paying...

Andrea - I don't actually mind paying Andrea. Its just the unfairness of the system and where you live that bugs me.
I might just give it all up, get myself a dog and let everyone else pay for me.

Even taking into account immigration growth and counting accuracy, I think it will be sometime yet before EWMs are a minority. wink.gif

And me! Can you imagine what would happen if you did have a 'White Music Award' ceremony?
We'd be physically attacked and probably jailed!!!!!

I can't stand PC either, but I think there is a difference here. Historically, black people have been oppressed/enslaved/excluded by white people, so it seems ok to say the one thing but not the other.

Er... perhaps we should get back on prescription charges? mellow.gif I've been lucky so far and have not needed them (prescriptions), but I understand that sometimes, because there is a flat minimum fee or something, that it can be more expensive than buying privately (over the counter, so to speak).
