There's no way of knowing without more data. Or are you just saying it should be cut because that's too high a proportion regardless?

Put it another way. Is the significant overhead in running a big essentially oversight administration necessary when for the most part, the majority of all the 'services' are provided by other agencies or contractors against nationally defined guidelines. It seems to me that local government is now very yesterday.

In my view adult social care is the very thing that a civilised society should organise to support collectively through taxation, supporting the sick and elderly who might not otherwise support themselves.

Where I would save public money is on the £500k of town council self-aggrandizing flummery and busy-work, and I'd start by culling the role of ceremonial mayor which serves no one but the incumbent.
