QUOTE (GMR @ Oct 31 2011, 08:45 PM) Now our black bins are collected fortnightly we are encouraged to sort out our rubbish so that they can be processed properly. Fair enough. The only problem is the small plastic bins and sacks for your cardboard, cans, plastic etc is too small. Mine are always over filling; and there is no room in the black bin now.
Where my parents live (Norwich) they have large wheelie bins for each product. If we are expected to sort out our rubbish shouldn't we also get wheelie bins for each item? Well the answer is that due to the high payments to SLI for the privilege of Park Way the largest bin you can have is the little mean plastic food caddy but you will have to supply your own bags of course? I noticed one black bin out today that was overflowing but it is not due to be emptied for another week yet though under the new system. I thought it best not to go and tell the owner. WBC have enough on their plate at the moment!

QUOTE (Richard Garvie @ Oct 31 2011, 09:01 PM) I'm not getting a caddy until "at least" next year. A nice fortnightly wait for you then!

QUOTE (NWNREADER @ Oct 31 2011, 09:27 PM) Sound decision, then? Well, I'm not covered. They explained it to me today and I accept that decision. I did clarify that there are not penalties for failing to recycle!!! There's never really food waste here anyway, some might say I've got hollow legs!!! That and there's no point cooking more than what you can eat.

QUOTE (user23 @ Oct 31 2011, 10:00 PM) Corby? Just off Pound Lane, Thatcham. If I lived in Corby, I'd be getting a proper waste service.

QUOTE (Richard Garvie @ Nov 1 2011, 02:14 PM) Yes. I think it works really well. Apart from the strict rules about the bins having lids open, 'contaminated' contents etc, how is the scheme different to the WBC one?

It's more effective and people were notified about the change well in advance, to the point that evrybody who lives their bought into the concept and widely supported it.

WBC will doubtless cling to the fact the decision was made in 2008? 'More effective', when the WBC scheme has only just started?
