QUOTE (Turin Machine @ Jun 24 2020, 02:04 PM) And we castigate the Chinese on animal welfare. The "red tractor" logo is about as meaningful as an anonymous review on trip adviser. Anyone can be a member for the sake of a subscription. This sort of behaviour is thankfully rare in this country but it certainly will not help the embattled farming industry as it deals with firstly the corona virus and then a post brexit world. I doubt if any prosecution will come from this but now may be an ideal time to lobby Laura Farris who recently voted for the government's Agricultural Bill (2020) which openly placed animal welfare at the bottom of future trade deals.

QUOTE (James_Trinder @ Jun 24 2020, 07:46 PM) It is actually quite easy to boycott these products here in West Berkshire because there is no Morrisons store to purchase them from. So good to know Sainsburys, Tesco etc use more ethical suppliers....

I thought coming out meant having our own and thus far better than the existing dreadful EU rules.

QUOTE (Mr Brown @ Jun 24 2020, 08:55 PM) great idea! I thought coming out meant having our own and thus far better than the existing dreadful EU rules. That is what most of us who preferred the leave option envisaged. If the contrary becomes the fact then we really are in free fall. The irony is that this virus that has killed tens of thousands started from bad meat production practice and we still are quite happy to allow it to continue. Little wonder the god bods see it has divine retribution.

QUOTE (James_Trinder @ Jun 24 2020, 10:03 PM) I wouldn't have thought so. Just different ones. So why are Morrisons singled out for special attention? Should be boycotting any Red Tractor labelled product if anything. Apparently, the firm caught have done nothing illegal, so its the law that needs changing. If anything needs boycotting, its the RSPCA a very rich charity which are aiding and abetting.

QUOTE (je suis Charlie @ Jun 25 2020, 11:57 AM) So.... Where do all the Morrisons delivery vans that I see quite often come from? Bit of a red herring swimming about here. This outfit may well have a contract with Morrisons but that does not mean that all their meat ends up their. Believe it or not supermarkets are very fussy on the goods procured as it gives them leverage to reduce the price which in effect means one batch a month may be rejected and in turn will be moved on to another retailer such as Tesco/Sainsbury's etc. If you wish to do something constructive inundate our MP with demands for a raising of welfare standards as the surest way to get a member of parliament to do anything is to plant the seed of losing the next election.

QUOTE (newres @ Jun 27 2020, 11:00 AM) All animal lives matter and we shouldn't be concerned with pigs! Quite right, no brown eggs then! On a more serious note, looks as if we need some way to re-educate marketeers, who always claim to know 'what our customers want'. Not only in supermarketing, take Apple, who say the way to get those Apps working again is to get the latest version iPad - really sustainable that, isn't it Greta! Oh well, we just need to remember greed is good.

QUOTE (je suis Charlie @ Jun 26 2020, 02:37 PM) 🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦 https://www.theguardian.com/business/2020/m...net-coronavirusThe point I was trying to make is that since online supermarket sales still only account for 10% of total supermarket sales for most people shopping at a Morrisons store would still therefore involve making a special trip outside of the area. The same logic also applies to ASDA.
