Looks like its going to be the worst winter weather since the 1980s Thursday / Friday. Stock up and keep warm.

Oh and Andy Capp.... Don't even think about trying to get a train.😂

Give him a lift in the range rover, £150 each way. Market forces innit.

Yet another media excuse in order to deflect from the real issues that effect us. What they expect in winter I do not know but every year the threat of adverse conditions send the soft southerners into a state of apoplexia. Little wonder those north of the Watford Gap look on us as a different species.

Of course, the average Joe isn’t the issue when it is cold and snowy; it’s our public services who run shrieking.

I had to laugh when I heard they cancelled trains because... it might snow.

I see some schools are banning the throwing of snowballs, or from pupils even touching the snow!!
Hypothetical surely as all schools now close if there is the slightest threat of snow? laugh.gif

Sort of close the school if it is snowing and close it in case it does snow, which basically means that between November and April all schools will be closed and as parents will have to stay home and look after them there will be no need to run public transport services.
All it needs is a little lateral thinking and at a stroke we have solved those annoying little problems that seem to cause so much angst.

Presumably TDH you are tucked up in a nice warm hotel room that the firm pays for? Odd thing, a good few businesses have elaborate contingency plans in case of planes dropping out of the sky, earthquakes and the like but winter weather, which happens at least annually, always takes them by surprise! Contrary to popular belief, it's not just a British phenominon; as the odd foreign visit this time of year often demonstrates. Perhaps a business opportunity here selling 'Contingency Planning for every day emergencies'.

More our compo culture. Any excuse and these days militant Mummy is round there because little Falcon hurt himself; so it's reach for the cheque book or spend endless hours debating the cost of fish with the legal people. Gone are the days when if you told your Dad teacher had given you a belting, you'd get another.

Seriously though, if you are traveling Friday or Saturday, take care, if you're driving just take it easy and have a little patience with the millennial in front who will be treating it like the end of the world. Still, those lumberjack shirts will keep them cosy! laugh.gif

My wife's upset, she's been texting all day to see what the weather is like here, the last one was "what if I can't get home tonight"? My answer of "I get a night off" wasn't apparently the one she was looking for. dry.gif
