The NWN reports that NTC are going to build a £500k pavilion in Victoria Park. They've invited the architect to draw up some plans and building starts in the spring. It'll be used as a cafe and be somewhere to store the pedalos.

It seems it is intended to replace the kiosk, the loos, and a part of the Waterside Centre (a place, incidentally, that I find very disappointed to see go). I understand that the sale of the 'WC' is to help finance other builds. What will the council sale next to finance the building that replaces it? sad.gif

This must mean that the original plans for the uber-pavillion have been ditched for good, surely? There's no way you can replace the existing kiosk with a pavillion and still look to shoe-horn in another building later on.

I think the function of the WC was to be incorporated into the WBC pavilion which was to be built on the WBC bits of the park, but the NTC didn't want that pavilon and the project would appear to have been abandoned. This NTC pavilion is an altogether different pavilion which will be built on the NTC bits of the park - except at a build cost of £500k it's going to be fairly substantial so like massifheed says it doesn't sensibly leave any room for the WBC one which will inevitably share much of the same function.

Hopefully the NTC plans will be a simple replacement of the refreshment hut to incorporate a boat store and some toilets. I don't want to see any large scale building in Victoria Park.
