How very politically correct, but inept for TV Police to issue statement today that they are
"..be engaging with key community representatives to allay concerns and fears ..with a particular focus on supporting our Muslim communities".

Seems to me they should focus on protecting/ guarding non Muslim communities, as they are the ones at risk from these terrorists.

By all means, closely monitor communities known as breeding grounds for such atrocities,
but don't treat them as the victims all the time. High Wycombe area comes to mind, amongst others.

We saw some very Christian acts on Westminster Bridge yesterday with both the terrorist & his non believer victims receiving the same care. We all know what a Christian act means, but the Muslim equivalent only has negative connotations for me.

Every one is a risk from terrorism, whether religious or not, but the risk is minuscule compared to others we face day to day. 🙄 When something like this happens, there is always a backlash and victims of those offences deserve support as much as anyone else.

Worth bearing in mind how Christ taught the parable of a Samaritan helping an injured Jew at a time when relations between those two Abrahamic traditions were just as poisonous as the present relations between Christians and Muslims, and the point He was making was that it is our common humanity that unites us.

Very true.

What is also regrettable is all the people explaining we mustn't let them win and how it is business as usual and asking how we can beat terror ... broadcast 24/7.

Perhaps the security forces may have more teeth when we are our of the EU. Lets hope so. They know who the majority of people are that are likely to commit these incidents. Would I be bothered about there "human rights" if they rounded them up? Personally. No. That will upset a lot of shouty liberals. But I reckon the majority of the population would breathe a sigh of relief.

The guy drove a car on the pavement with the intention to kill. I doubt he was concerned what religion his victims were. Religion, I say it's years on years of bad foreign policy that bred this hatred at home and abroad.

People aren't sitting around waiting, that's why far more people in the U.K. are killed by diesel engine pollution than a terrorist attack.

Thankfully many people recognise this and act accordingly, rather than respond to right-wing hysteria.

If he wiped out fellow Muslims while committing his act they would understand... 'InShaAllah' n all that...

More people are killed by eating red meat than by terrorist attacks, and it's not right wing hysteria that gets us killed it's liberal complacency that does that. And if you're really all that worried about diesel? Don't use the bus, or a train, or get groceries delivered by truck, or use a taxi, or buy anything imported on a ship. Don't support windfarms that use banks of diesel powered generators as back up for when the wind doesn't blow or indeed any of the thousands of uses of diesel fuel, like home heating, and get rid of solid fuel kitchen ranges that liber's adore cos they're pollution machines as well.

The problem with you is you pick up on one single headline but are too lazy to look at the broader picture, like most liberals it too easy to hide behind a soundbite.

What a strange and bizarre point of view, "more people are killed by diesel fumes that by terrorist attack"

There are many, many things that kill more people than a terrorist attack.
The clue is in the word............"terror" that sets it apart!

If you have a wasp nest in the shed and some of them sting you? Do you really try and identify the ones that will sting you next? Really?

Female "stinging" wasps are capable and will sting and a swarm of those wasps are collectively a real danger, but there is more than one way of making sure they don't harm you and there is more than one way of making sure a wasp nest does not develop in the wrong place in the first place. Meanwhile, wasps are a benefit to mankind, and wiping them all out could cause more harm than good. Developing a system where we can co-exist seems like the most sensible strategy to me.

http://animals.nationalgeographic.com/animals/bugs/wasp/

"Despite the fear they sometimes evoke, wasps are extremely beneficial to humans. Nearly every pest insect on Earth is preyed upon by a wasp species, either for food or as a host for its parasitic larvae. Wasps are so adept at controlling pest populations that the agriculture industry now regularly deploys them to protect crops."

Do you know more people die in a terrorist event that being stung by a wasp in the UK. Genocide seems like a bit of an overreaction to me.

As opposed to complacent left wingers, tell you what, why don't we, next time we spot a terrorist, call you up and YOU can go round, sing a verse or two of Kumbaya sit down and offer him a cupcake, give him some flowers and he'll soon see sense. The nation will be grateful, you'll have a lovely funeral. Or the bits that they find will do. Make yer family proud, make a difference. Go on, try it. Maybe then we won't need to see another police hero being laid to rest.

Who uses diesel for home heating?

Central Heating Oil is paraffin not diesel

Correct.
Road diesel is 32sec kerosene.
Central heating oil is 28 sec kerosene so a bit lighter.
You can actually run diesel engines on central heating oil but obviously illegally to use on the road.
Being lighter it may not be good for the injector pump etc.
Not sure what the NOX emissions are of oil central heating

I wouldn't advise using heating oil in a car it lacks the lubrication needed, would bork the high pressure lift pump and would send the injectors to the great scrappy in the sky. Maybe a good dose of sulphur would help. I have burned diesel in a paraffin heater before but it did stink the workshop out.

I don't think I have any "mates in GWR" who are at the level of those who decide the on board announcements!
I believe these are decided in collaboration with BTP.
The advice is not what to do if you "spot a terrorist". It is how to report any suspicious items or activity.

I suppose I was actually but my tether has reached it's end with these people.
We're leaving so let's work together to make the best of it and not organise silly marches against the inevitable.
I wonder if the referendum had gone the other way if leavers would have protested in the same way?
I don't know but tend to think not.
Despite the above I'm not as spiteful as you assume.
Just look around you. There are many others worse than I who you are condemned to spend the rest of your life with!! sad.gif wink.gif

That was the point I make; not that anyone in particular was a cause for concern, only that the EU offers security for many; rich or poor.

And of course leavers would have kicked-up had it gone the other way. I suspect Farage already had his speech written before the result become apparent.

I think that is because most people when asked couldn't come up with a tangible or rational argument of why we must get out of the Union. It was almost certainly anti-foreigner sentiment.

He did - and the key content has been made public - he was going to point out that the result was too close to be a final decision and campaign for another referendum in a few years time.

The big difference is that a Remain vote would have left Leavers with the hope that they would have another chance in a few years. A Leave vote leaves Remainers with no hope. Without hope resentment builds.

That is right. My view is the EU is too corrupt and ineffectual, and needs a shake up which might happen with UK's exit, but I also voted out with the belief the country would vote to stay OR more effective concessions would get renegotiated IF we voted leave.

I didn't vote on immigration grounds as that I believe is a red herring.

laugh.gif Touchy! I don't care for cars much and don't have a preference. I presently don't have a car. I'd rather have motor bike.

A, with a hedgehog all the pricks are on the outside.

Explain the "bigotry" and "ignorance" displayed by showing disdain for an abhorrent act?
Also, regarding "Islamophobic", Peter puts it better than I can. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-PP61qTmic you may lessen your ignorance by doing so.

Well I presume you mentioned GMT because it's on the face of it a thread about Islamic terrorism and your ignorance is because it isn't an Islamic problem, but more of a regional problem. Many Islamic countries don't "do" GMT and I think I'm right in saying some Christian countries do.

If you accept GMT is not an Islamic problem, I misjudged you and I apologise.
