Back on the railway topic of this thread, there is a major change to the timetable as from the start of next week.
Most times will be changing.

There will now be 3 trains per hour all day each way between Newbury and Reading / London.
PLUS and hourly service all day each way from London to the West Country
PLUS an increased number of aggregate trains between the Somerset quarries and various destinations in the Home Counties.

The main message being, avoid Thatcham Level Crossing if you can!! tongue.gif

Bit surprised its only 33%.

Come.on Jezza. Make it free! 🤣

Trains are crowded now. How will they be able to cope with such a massive increase in passenger numbers that this would bring about without first putting in place the necessary increase in infrastructure?

The train involved had a guard onboard, so, fifty shades of meh.

Precisely my point.......
The train reached a maximum speed of around 9 mph (14 km/h) and had travelled around 27 metres before being brought to a stand by the train’s conductor initiating an emergency brake application.

You mean the "Illiberal Undemocratic" Party? (Not working for me! tongue.gif )
Yes, I'm afraid there's a good chance they will. sad.gif rolleyes.gif

Labour think we've forgotten just how bad BT were as a nationalised industry.

Or BR?

PS They weren't BT then they were Post Office Telecommunications or something!

Yep but water IS essential to live. Broadband isn't. In my view the following should be considered for nationalisation

1. Water
2. Rail

Both should only be done so if the Unions agree not to strike.

Nowt else.

The rail infrastructure IS government owned as are some of the TOC's.

Interesting to see that this forum has become a small, local reflection of that which is happening in parliament and across the country as a whole.
Nothing is being discussed or dealt with to any great extent at the expense of Brexit.
I.E. nothing else is review or debated on here (really just a local forum) any more other than the "B" word¬
Some have tried but the subject soon disappears into the Brexit melee! smile.gif

When something is found to have no legal standing it isn't about breaking a law, it is more about not following it. Until there is a legal precedent laws are not enshrined anyway, so in this case the actions of Boris Johnson were deemed unlawful, not illegal. Now there is a legal precedent set it will be much easier in the future should the same event happen again.

Oh I see.
So yes, They ARE making it up as they go!! tongue.gif

Here is the REAL treason for man made climate change (if it does exist).
All your school strikes, changing diet, electric vehicles, council emergency declarations etc. will have no effect until this changes.

There are approximately 360,000 babies born per day and 15,000 births per hour worldwide. That is more than twice the number of people who die each day. Just under half of the world's total population is comprised of children 18 and under. The average life expectancy worldwide for new babies born each year is 67

Let us assume that I decline to pay the additional charge for garden waste in my green bin.
I am assured that kitchen refuse will still be collected for no charge.
So, if I buy a cabbage from my local supermarket, eat some and put the remains in the green bin that will be fine.
But, if i grow a cabbage in my garden, eat some and put the remains in the green bin it will not be collected.
so my question is "Who will do the DNA testing to establish the provenance of the discarded portion of cabbage?"

I think the key here in this rip off policy is in the term "kitchen waste"
Both examples of cabbage will have passed through your kitchen and are therefore classified as "kitchen waste".
So it would appear that all you have to do to avoid the charge is to pass you hedge clippings through the kitchen on their way to the green bin.
Maybe cook a few shoots with the intention of eating them as they pass through.
Result?? biggrin.gif

No safety review or "safety improvements" will make any difference as long as the standard of driving on the roads continues to deteriorate and not policed.
The only aspect of enforcement is speeding, which is easier to police. All other driving offences are generally ignored by a dwindling police force.
The standard of driving on our roads only amazes me that there are not more crashes.
