Heard on Radio Oxford today complaints from several listeners that Royal Mail had recently suspended delieveries again in some areas, due to state of roads/pavements.

I'm certain our end of village didnt have a Saturday delivery; been OK this week.

Anyone else notice this?? sad.gif

I have had no post and I haven't seen a postman for over a week.

We got some mail in Hermitage today for the first time in a while only bills mind, our road still very slippery but no slopes. Bin was emptied today too but not the recycling.

When I had a problem with mail not being received in the past (P.O redirection error rather than the weather) I visted the sorting office and they let me collect it.

Here too; no post since Sat and that was a bulk delivery of stuff not delivered that week.

Ironically, the coldest place in Britain (Scotland) was still getting mail through...tells you something.

the coldest place in Britain (Scotland)

Actually, a couple of days ago it was the warmest part of Britain, according to the weather map.

May I humbly request people who post ,( no pun intended ) ,comments regarding Royal Mail deliveries indicate the area they reside . A blanket statement saying no deliveries implies that the whole region is without when in reality a lot of areas are operating with minimum disruption .
There are at least three delivery offices serving the catchment area that this forum covers ,so the lack of a postman may be to reasons other than the weather , though having said that ,one would have sympathy with a cautionary approach to asking staff to put there well being at risk considering the conditions .

Obvioulsy we'll be unlikley to see dustbins cleared this week again.

I have now been informed that Royal Mail Newbury suspended rural deliveries today ( Wednesday ) because of the traffic chaos on approach roads and concentrated their efforts on town deliveries where the use of a van was necessary to transport the mail .
I am led to believe that it will be business as usual tomorrow , unless it snows again . unsure.gif

Very impressed with our hardy postman, another mail delivery received in Hermitage today yey!

Does it depend on the sorting office do you think? ours is Thatcham - which one does Chieveley?
