Walked the dog on Greenham Common this morning. New signs have gone up at the Control Tower carpark. As you enter there is one asking for donations for the upkeep of the Common to be used by BBONT. Further round there is a 'machine' covered in a cardboard box with a sign beside it having £3 in big words on it. Are they looking for a £3 donation or is a parking charge just about to be levied for accessing the Common?

It's a similar situation at the Thatcham Lakes Nature Reserve.

I think they can ask what they want, but I won't be paying a penny. Every time I park up there (which I actively seek to avoid) I risk doing lord knows what damage to my car because of the absolutely horrendous pot holes.

I don't understand why this car park is in such a sorry state, when the car park further up by Tesco's (or the silos) is paved. Are they not owned by the same people?
