Did you know there are more stars in the Universe than grains of sand on this planet...

Food for thought. 🤔

To quantify that a little we are talking about the known universe which could be less than 1% of the total. Mind blowing eh children. cool.gif

The pure numbers involved in astrophysics holds a complete fascination for me. If nothing else it highlights what an insignificant species we are yet we have the ability to explore the universe and evaluate our position, yet we would rather argue over some imaginary "god" figure which has no scientific basis. Do we deserve knowledge? Would appear to be wasted on most.

Most don't get an education. That's why we're in such a pickle.

Valid reason for the third world, but the UK? Is it not in our DNA to advance our knowledge of anything and everything that comes our way? I do feel a genuine sadness for those who can see no further than the next episode of eastenders but that's the way it is.

“Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.”

One of many annoying little foibles of modernity is being addressed as "guys" when being seated in an eating establishment. (Using the noun restaurant is stretching credulity). To the best of my knowledge my wife is not a "guy" , and no I am not after a second opinion, so what is wrong with sir/madam? Mr Grumpy or what?
