It's easy to be critical but I think we should all congratulate Nick Carter, West Berks CEO, he's worth every penny! Well done to the Conservative majority for having the guts to reward the man properly in the face of huge cuts.

So was Mr **** of Kennet School yet no-one complains at his 150k+ a year.

yeah but he's a 'Super Head' and someone that all heads at crap inner city ghetto schools should aspire to... a leading light.... a beacon.. worth every penny etc etc.

Except that, like JeffG who doesn't have gas so doesn't give a monkey's how much the CEO is being paid, I don't have kids that go to school any more so I would rather they were paid a wage that was down several notches closer to the Average Joe's level of take home.. They have all those school holidays after all and yet they're still paid astronomical salaries...

So I wouldn't say "nobody complains at his £150k a year salary"...... I complain about it big style....

It did make me wince when I read that a Council officer at Reading BC was getting around the £300k mark... That, quite frankly, is unbelievable for a public servant. HOW can somebody be worth that much?

Simple answer - a public servant can't be worth that much. The question to ask is how the elected councillors allow these kind of wages to be paid, and that's because we're electing self-serving party sheep who have neither the whit nor inclination to pull the emergency cord on the runaway local government gravy train.

Spot on Simon but you have to understand that you don't try to stop something that you are part of and benefit from. Funny how Dannyboy and User are reluctant to come forward with the usual defense on this one? I just wonder how the spin this one will evolve? rolleyes.gif

You do not appear to care how the council tax is spent in West Berks.

This may be that you have so much money that you don't care, or perhaps you don't pay council tax and therefore you are not bothered for that reason.

Unlike Dannyboy (who is rich from his own business) I have enough money for a comfortable live, without being minted, and I pay council tax, and I'm not bothered to be honest.

What do you say to that?
