I have a small motorbike which I use to nip in and out of town. There is a very convenient parking place in the Wharf. However, I've never been sure if I should pay or not. The parking notice mentions 'vehicles', but there is no where to stick a ticket on a bike. So, I normally just hope for the best! Saturday, I saw a parking attendant, going about his duties - so I thought it politic to check. Answer no, don't have to pay. Totally unexpected, really happy friendly chap. Why is this a rant? Well I can't complain about this to WBC can I!!

Well that's out of order. How are we to complain about WBC now? I suppose we could complain that WBC shouldn't let the hordes of motorcyclists get away with parking for free!

Can Admin please sort this post out.
The title is 'Newbury Parking Wardens' and the post mentions a friendly 'parking attendant'. I can only assume there must be an error in OTE's post as he doesn't mention the more commonly understood term 'Green Meanies'....... If some posters on here are to be believed, we don't have such things as parking wardens/attendants.......... |

We do not have traffic wardens at all. Traffic wardens are only used where FPN/ECN still exist and are a part of the Police.
Parking in Newbury is decriminalised and enforced by the Council, who - in accordance with the relevant legislation - employ Civil Enforcement Officers |

I too have found the parking attendants to be cheerful and sensible. How are we to complain? The perfidy of WBC!
