Today's the day for the results that could even be of most interest on this forum.

Counting for Brummell Grove is over - Eva Franks held the seat for the Conservatives but is not standing this time.

Counting ongoing for Pyle Hill (JSH & Arthur Johnson both LD) and Clay Hill (Jeff Beck, Dave Goff & Tony Stretton all Con and Phil Barnett, LD) are the outgoing councillors.

Taking a long long time to declare the first result, counting finished over 30 mins ago.

I know it's annoying, what's the hold-up.

1-2
JSH and Arthur Johnson back for Pyle Hill. I'm sure everyone will be delighted that JSH will be able to give NTC his undivided attention having lost his WBC seat.

Oh no - perhaps not - since he is also a parish councillor for Greenham. Far from convinced that one person should be allowed to represent two parishes.

5-2

Clean sweep for Tories in Clay Hill - Tony Stretton (our new leader?), David Goff, Jeff Beck and new face Margo Payne.

The first change as Phil Barnett held one Clay Hill seat for the LDs. He was not standing this time having shifted to Northcroft.

Full result from Pyle Hill:

LDs Arthur Johnson 420 votes, Julian Swift Hook 368. Cons Chris Austin 311 and Jeremy Bartlett 275. There were 14 rejected votes.

Difficult to correlate with WBC Greenham Ward because the boundaries are very different, but it's odd that Bartlett can win one and come 4th in the other. Arthur significantly more popular than Julian.

Brummell Grove - Fish© 164, Lally(LD) 118. Both parties got more votes than last time (127-111) but the higher turn out much more beneficial to the Tories.

That's what I have been watching but I would have liked an option to watch a parish. It reminded me of the old teletext pages the way it rotated through several pages.

They are counting St John's ward - I suspect the Tories will gain another seat there.

Meanwhile Thatcham seems to be following the rightward path. Mayor Gary Johnson (LD) has lost his seat.

Interesting issue with the Mortimer parish election - 16 candidates competing for 15 seats. The bottom two ended up with the same vote so the returning officer (Nick Carter) drew a single voting paper out of a box to decide who won.

Still waiting for action on Northcroft and Victoria where most of the LD seats are up for grabs.

It would be even more useful if it included the number of seats available - especially in the uncontested parishes. 13 election unopposed to Greenham PC and 6 to Shaw - it seems that Shaw is having real problems finding councillors, but how big a problem?

Also notable that Johnson, Drummond, JSH and Barnett are not credited with any party affiliation on Greenham PC - how come? Just how many pseudo-independents are there?

Just had a go at finding this page from the WBC homepage - failure. You must have insider knowledge to find it!

Thatcham almost blue - 9-3 up with 6 to go.

Jeff Brooks keeps his seat.

Counting has started on Northcroft - best of luck Simon, Charlie, OTE - I'm afraid you'll need a lot of it!

7-4 Conservatives take two more seats in Northcroft:

Jeanette Clifford (Con) 1,191; Lynne Doherty (Con) 1,070; Martha Vickers (Lib Dem) 953; and Jo Day (Lib Dem) 965

So it's goodbye to Phil Barnett.

10-5

St Johns: John Gardner (Lib Dem) 1,476; Sarah Greenall (Con) 1,540; Anthony Pick (Con) 1,459 and Andrew Steele (Con) 1,538

No change but a close thing, LDs not far off a second seat.

Falkland and Victoria to come. Conservatives will win, but by how much? My prediction of 18-5 is still on, but looking shaky. All depends on Victoria as Falkland is traditionally blue.
