The only aspect of enforcement is speeding, which is easier to police. All other driving offences are generally ignored by a dwindling police force.

Total agreement. I assume, rightly or wrongly, you ride a motorbike and therefore must have seen your life pass in front of you more times than the proverbial feline. Even if we did have more traffic officers it is doubtful they would have much impact as it is the average drivers mindset that needs addressing. Makes one wonder what the point of the driving examination is as the highway code is either not known or completely ignored. Ton and half of propelled iron in the hands of an imbecile.
