Headline in today's NewburyToday: Five Arrested for Suspected Hunting Offences.

QUOTE
FOUR men and a 13-year-old boy have been arrested on suspicion of hare coursing in West Ilsley.

The arrests come after a gamekeeper reported a group of men with dogs in his fields at 3.25pm on Sunday, October 26.

A 43-year-old from Newport, a 34-year-old man from Reading, a 33-year-old man from Tadley, a 33-year-old man from Southampton and a 13-year-old boy, also from Southampton, were arrested on suspicion of hare coursing, which falls under the Hunting Act.

Good. I trust that NewburyToday will be reporting with similar condemnation when the Christmas hunt rides out.

Why? What is to condemn about people riding horses?

At least the hunt pretend to chase a smelly rag that's been dragged around the countryside to lure the hounds (hey if a fox unfortunately gets in the way and distracts them what can you do.... it's nature innit...)

Hare coursing on the other hand can't be confused with greyhound racing and chasing a mechanical rabbit.

laugh.gif Some hopes!
The pro-hunting NWN will, as usual, report it with some relish even though the meet was quite rightly banished from the town many years ago.

Somewhere in the back waters of Lambourn now isn't it?

Because many of us find it equally offensive.

That may be the case, but it is not illegal as in the first case.

Um, yes, fox hunting is illegal. Here's a helpful and informative publication by the Countryside Alliance "Hunting for Kids"

I am not entirely sure that a load of horses would solve the problem.
This is a mile from St Pancras....."International" . They are a problem.
So what will UKIP do about immigration of such pests?
They stink the streets, strew rubbish about, make a lot of noise mating...
(That's just my French neighbours.)

Sadly I can't upload the image of Mr Basil Brush sunning himself on my shed roof.
If any Estate Agent reads this..... it is a "Garden Room"

How does Motormad and others do a full page VW and I can't manage a measly fox in 38K

I know that, so I trust you will let the NWN know where a fox hunt will take place at Christmas, as per your OP. I take it by 'the Christmas Hunt' you mean the Vine and Craven Boxing Day meet, which I understand is not an illegal event.

I have it on good authority, from within nwn, that if the anti's turned up, that would be reported..
So, have they previously?

Yes, but the antis are always reported with a negative bias.

And have marginal column inches. Having said that, they have been pretty quiet lately too.

I assume you refer to this, for example.

http://www.newburytoday.co.uk/2013/anti-hu...boxing-day-meet

Which simply quotes that they weren't welcome.

TBH - in the first paragraph it does look like an editorial comment.

Unfortunately, as the online article states, read the rest on paper!

This is an example of exactly what I mean. dry.gif

I have, but fortunately the journalist missed out the inverted commas nor used exactly the same wording as was later quoted.

Not quite what?

Do you refer to your comment 'Yes, but the antis are always reported with a negative bias.'?

If so, then it was a reported view, not a reporter view.
