In a funny way, that is a part of the problem. We become 'addicted' to it and with that 'addiction' comes power. Corruptible power.

Not everything is corruptible. Don't be so negative. As for addiction, it is better than white powder, or drink. And as drink etc can damage you, at least the internet enlightens one. But then again I suppose drugs also enlightens one, but not in a good way.

Why should I not be so negative? The point is we become 'slave' to the Internet. We cannot function easily without it. And now 'they' know all about us.

Because you could say the same about everything. When cars and planes came about people said the same as you are saying now. Everything has a down side, but let us look at the positive side of it. Bringing up kids has negative connotations so why not be native about that. People have kids because they see the good, the same with computers.

It could easily be argued that cars and planes are a problem too. Indeed, we might consider the Industrial Revolution to be a great thing, but is is also possibly a problem.

Earth's population in the year 1050 was less than half a billion. In the year 1750 (approximately the start of the industrial revolution) it was less than one billion. In 1950 it was around two billion. In the year 2015 it is seven billion.

Technology is great, but it has a cost that is not always apparent.

I'll make a prediction. In 2050 it will be less than 5 billion.
Mother nature will make sure of that. She's already started by basically ridding the world of anti-biotics.
I'm sure the drug companies are waiting for the disaster to strike.. P&L and all that.

Yes, I fear with our travel addiction that will become all the more easier to happen.
