QUOTE (Ron @ Apr 18 2016, 08:15 PM) Are you inferring that Mr Benyon is involved in illegal or hidden dealings? I don't think he is implying anything like that.

QUOTE (Phil_D11102 @ Apr 18 2016, 05:00 PM) I wonder why Mr. Benyon won't disclose his income tax returns?
It should be law that they do. Set then an example - publish yours

It should be law that they do. 'They' will, by way of 'equality' mean you too. Stuff that.

QUOTE (Ron @ Apr 18 2016, 08:15 PM) Are you inferring that Mr Benyon is involved in illegal or hidden dealings? I haven't got a clue what he is doing, but if he was doing anything illegal then by showing ones tax returns wouldn't uncover any illegality.

It should be law that they do. Some people are just SO envious of people with money that it clouds their judgement. I imagine that Mr B probably pays more in tax than I earn. Would that make you feel better or worse or would it only go to prove what a nosey git you are. I wonder why YOU don't disclose yours. Might it be because it's none of anyone else's business?

Bang on. The inference of the OP is that if you don't disclose something, you are automatically guilty. Methinks rowlocks.

There will be people envious, but I doubt that is the reason. Suspecting someone of capitalising on others is likely to be more the issue. At the end of the day people of low financial standing are being made worse-off by people who are well-off. It seems reasonable to me to scrutinise decision makers.

Methinks rowlocks. The implication is there, but as has already been said, a tax return provides limited information anyway.
