Sir John Boys Company (Earl Rivers Regiment) has been part of Newbury's history for the past 35 years, although historically they held Donnington Castle for the King during the English Civil War.
The modern day Regiment is part
The Sealed Knot Society, which is the largest and most well known Re-enactment Society in Europe and we travel all over the U.K, with thousands of others, to re-enact the English Civil War.
We recruit our members in and around Newbury and over the years our members have hosted countless English Civil War events from mini battles, skirmishes, Living History events and school visits to our famous big battles re-enacting the 1st and 2nd battles of Newbury and the Siege of Donnington Castle.
We also support Newbury charities raising over £100,000 over the years and supporting
the Newbury Battlefield Project, a custodian group of the
Battlefield Trust. We are now recruiting for new members to fill our ranks. We're not just looking for Pikemen & Musketeers, but people who are interested in the civilian aspects of our period of history, to join our ever growing Living History Group.
Earl Rivers have the reputation of being a welcoming and family orientated Regiment and even during the winter months we hold socials, that are suitable for all the members in our Regiment, whether they’re one years old or one hundred years old.
So whether your male, female, young, old, married, partnered or single you'll find a warm welcome with us.
We hold meetings in Newbury every month and we welcome anyone to come and join us.
