QUOTE (Andy Capp @ Jan 9 2015, 10:50 PM) There's nothing else really to say, except our friendly Lib Dem former councillor is prepared to answer any questions about the affair. No other Lib Dems seemingly involved are prepared to comment. Yes some things never alter do they? Remember NTC don't do transparency do they! I don't suppose we will even know who is going to do the covering up investigating either will we? Trouble is anything involving our NTC is the same as watching old films, you always know how it will all end!

QUOTE (Strafin @ Jan 10 2015, 01:27 PM) So, someone anonymous, may have done something wrong, but maybe not, and that person isnt prepared to comment, on that "something" but someone else is.
Riveting stuff. "The truth is out there"............Newbury excepted of course!

QUOTE (Mr Brown @ Jan 22 2015, 07:13 PM) There is a letter in this week's Newbury Weekly News from one of the Councillors who was criticised for not attending many Council meetings. He says he's got a demanding job and works excessive hours and also helps out at a whole lot of local worthy organisations which he seems to think is better and more productive than going to the Council meetings. Surely, the whole point of a Councillor is to represent their constituents at the Council meetings? That his party couldn't find anyone to stand for this role other than this totally overwhelmed individual speaks volumes. Perhaps he'll get some relief at the next election. Bless him, let's hope so.

QUOTE (Andy Capp @ Jan 23 2015, 02:14 PM) I have some sympathy for him (he's self-employed), BUT, if one is to be a councillor, one has to consider if they have the time to do it. Personally, I think it is mug's game. Yes, but they, WBC Councillors, do actually get paid for what they do. It's not like they are doing it for free. There is a basic payment, plus expenses which some of them rack up quite a bit, then they get extra for serving on committees. It's really a nice little earner for not a great deal of effort. Most of the track work is done by the council officers, they, the councillors, just rubber stamp and get interviewed by the local press. I know Parish and NTC councillors do it for love so they at least are working for their community.
