QUOTE (motormad @ Feb 2 2014, 09:50 PM) Bring on the rain I say. Means I can wash my car whenever I want in the summer Yes, but driving through the floods is not going to do your suspension, brakes and drive shafts any good at all. The excessive water on and under the tarmac causes erosion and potholes of course.

QUOTE (On the edge @ Feb 3 2014, 07:54 AM) I thought you used bottled water? Evian! QUOTE (Exhausted @ Feb 2 2014, 11:19 PM) Yes, but driving through the floods is not going to do your suspension, brakes and drive shafts any good at all. The excessive water on and under the tarmac causes erosion and potholes of course. What damage does water do to those components? It's not like we're driving through 6 ft streams of water, it's a few puddles on the road. Potholes yes I suppose it is a vicious circle. Helps if it's not freezing and touch wood the weather will be better each day.

QUOTE (Gazzadp @ Feb 5 2014, 08:35 PM) More and more forecasters are now saying this kind of weather is in until the end of this month, me personally I think it will likely continue through until Spring (end of March beginning of April). As is in all honesty I cannot see how this Jet Stream set up will change until then.
The major problem is the Jet Stream, it sounds daft but when we get to the Spring equinox and the Sun is that bit higher in the sky, the warmer weather will push north over the states, shifting the Jet Stream with it.
Sadly though this Friday night/ Saturday is looking potentially very, very bad. Well, at least we can prepare for the worse. Nice to know we have someone in the District who can give us an informed view.

QUOTE (Gazzadp @ Feb 5 2014, 07:25 PM) FLOODLINE: 0345 9881188 0845 988 1188 Why the two identical numbers with different "area" codes? Is the 0345 version the non-rip off one?

QUOTE (MontyPython @ Feb 6 2014, 11:15 AM) The 0345 one is cheaper and can be used as part of your "call minutes bundle" from most mobiles. Then why carry on advertising the 0845 number which caused a furore when it was discovered that the Environment Agency were ripping people off?

I use this to try and avoid rip-off non-geographical numbers. Works at least 90% of the time.
