It is a bit worrying when the police can't even protect their own property. Maybe they should get security guards to to keep an eye on them?

We might even get some 'Big Community Funding'. Nice to know that at long last one of our local 'authorities' is number one at something. laugh.gif

Very sensible suggestion GMR! Would probably save tax payers money; private security guards come a lot cheaper blink.gif

Its not because TVP have a very low detection rate as well is it? Is that why they are being targeted by theives? unsure.gif

Yeah! Its like one of those old Will Hay (?) films. Perhaps TVP should make another documentary - who said British comedy was dead!

And not only that but they have no constraints by the law; they can kick-***! In other words break a few bones or kick a few testicles (or both). All the police would do if they caught the culprits is give them a good talking to, and probably give them a good nights kiss and say something profound like "don't do it again silly children or no supper for you!" Which always encourages the kids to pick a life of crime to supplement their income. After all; criminals have rights; just the poor victims who have no such protection.

Merry Christmas and a happy new year.

We all have the same rights. It's true, crims don't respect the law - that's no more than a definition of what a crim is - but then the state punishes criminality. What rights would you rather not have? There are plenty of examples from history of harsh and oppressive regimes, and while that might suit you if you were in authority they're not actually that popular with the average schmo, evidence revolution in the arab states.

We do have the same rights but rarely receive a fair and equal treatment.

Crims are treated differently for sure - the state punishes criminality - but there's nothing unfair in that, it would be unfair to do otherwise.

What were the crimes?

Many crimes go down as having a victim called Regina, but I don't see Liz Windsor up in arms......

The Daily Mail is a sensationalising 'send a gunboat' paper, find shock and horror in anything. I am more concerned at the time and money spent by public bodies on researching the information. This is not what FoI was intended for.

So then, the argument is that they are pretty poor at Management Information instead! The excuse here strikes me as similar to the Traffic Policeman's excuse for speeding in their own cars 'I was just keeping my skills honed' - so not guilty Guv. The Keystone Cops ride again!

Cannot agree. There are strict rules on what can be put in a crime report as it has to comply with strict Home Office requirements.
Also, they included with the raw data the fact all but a couple of the TFMVs were 'trap car' incidents

Not really, it's pretty hard to misinterpret this
QUOTE
The FoI response included the caveat: “Please note that of the above thefts recorded, all but six involved ‘trap vehicles’ deployed specifically to be targeted by offenders.”
but somehow the Daily Fail have done so.

As the Sweeny might say, they've "got form" for not getting the facts correct.

Oh right, so the Police clerk collating the information would have included the entrapments as real thefts then. Ha Ha Ha - you couldn't make it up.

A valid question was asked and in effect, the Police couldn't be bothered to answer it properly! So then we can add another attribute - contempt for anyone daring to exercise their democratic rights. Why should we tell you anything?

Anyone remember Corky - the Copper in the Eric Sykes series? Does he do the TVP training videos?

The answer seems quite clear to me, 6.

It's not exactly cryptic is it?

The Daily Mail reported it as 88 however.
