The Inspector has informed the Council that in the light of the Save Historic Newmarket judgement the Sustainability Appraisal does not meet the requirements of the Regulations. His reasons will be set out in a Note, along with any new matters of soundness arising from this week’s resumed hearings. In response to a request from the Council, the Inspector has agreed to hold a short hearing session on the process that would need to be followed by the Council to remedy this breach in the Regulations. The timetable leading up to this session is as follows:-

Inspector’s Note on SA issued by Thursday 14 July 2011 to West Berkshire Council and available on the Examination webpage.

West Berkshire Reply to Inspector’s Note by Thursday 28 July 2011– PO to circulate to all respondents.

Respondents’ Responses by 5pm Tuesday 16 August 2011.

Inspector’s agenda Thursday 25 August 2011.

Hearing to discuss SA process: 10.00am on Wednesday 31 August 2011 – in the Council Chamber, Market Street, Newbury, Berkshire, RG14 5LD ( Note change of venue) - Half a day – round table format.
