QUOTE (theone09 @ Oct 8 2009, 01:28 PM) Is this actually going to happen this time? after months of rumours. It would be nice a have another large shop in Newbury town, i really miss going into town & looking around Woolworths. It is also good that it is going to bring another 85 jobs to the town. Agreed, although I am not sure if they sell the same sort of products as Robert Dyass do, if that is the case competition could get interesting.

From what I've seen, they sell everything from combs to stationery to batteries via gardening sundries and dusters - all reasonably priced. Hold hard, though - isn't that what Woolworths used to do years ago? Anyway, it will be a popular place if it does open, as seems fairly likely.

QUOTE (Blake @ Nov 3 2009, 09:52 AM) I begin to wonder if Wilkinson has bought this site.
I seen no sign of life in resurrecting this shop. It still looks the black hole of Calcutta.
I would have thought Wilkinson would have wanted to get the shop going again ready for Christmas.
Was this story another red herring I ask? I had similar thoughts. The busiest trading time of the year is coming up, if they're not in there in the next few weeks I can't see moving in until next Spring, if at all.
