Walking through Victoria Park lunch time was impressed by the number of people enjoying all the facilities. Including the new bike thing - where they were actually queueing! Really great - we're clearly getting something right in Newbury. There has been a fair debate about building a pavilion on one edge (I'll say now, I'm neither for or against) which would necessarily remove some of the park.
However, passing under the bridge, it struck me that it wouldn't take too much to replace the moribund football club with a new purpose built 'mini stadium' Simply a crescent with a few terraces where seating could be installed - and games / open air shows etc (including football) could be put on. The Pavilion could then be sited under the terracing. This would help extend Victoria Park and give us a new multi purpose open air facility as well as the pavilion. Something a little different - for little more than the pavilion cost! Just a thought. -------------------- Know your place!
