The NWN has generated more waste for my recycling bin straight out of the press.
Why oh why does the newspaper run pages and pages of what children want for Christmas? How is this considered news???? It is of supreme indifference and a complete waste of time. Do you see The Telegraph running pages on what children want for Christmas? I don't think so. I think it reflects a move downmarket. |

It's lazy English and it's ignorant though. This is a newspaper not just someone's blog. Yeah, "leave it, it's just part of language evolving naturally" is one way of responding, but there are enough examples of people thinking it's correct to type 'would of done' or 'could of done' and before you know it that will be accepted and in a newpaper article...

Incidentally, the Grauniad's style guide agrees with the NWN's usage - except bail comes from the French baille - bucket. -------------------- Right an injustice - give Simon Kirby his allotment back!
