Obviously he isn't all bad, but I had forgotten some of his decisions, not least the council settlement where he abstained from voting (which in this instance is crude way of supporting the motion). It doesn't say, but I bet he supports hunting foxes with hounds too. http://www.newburytoday.co.uk/news/news/17...uents-down.html

He's definitely not all bad - I see him as a remarkable constituency MP.

He always has time to help and an incredible memory for faces/names. In all my (few) dealings with him, he has been courteous and helpful. He does a great deal for schools in the area.

As to his voting record, being 'absent' is a way of rebelling against the party whip in parliamentary conduct.

Having met and dealt with him, I would vote for him regardless of which party he belonged to.

I have had little to do with Richard Benyon MP, but your description could be said of a number of past constituency MPs, including David Rendel. West berkshire councils budget was slashed by 44 percent by central government, Richard Benyon decided not to vote against this because other council's benefitted, he said. I would expect our MP to vote against such measures.

Why does the fox hunting thing irk the hoi polloi so much? Would you rather he was into banger racing and hare coursing?

banger racing? - Yes, fine
hare coursing? - No, certainly not. And that's illegal too.

Yes.

1. Killing animals for fun ("Sport") is wrong.
2. The ritual killing of animals is wrong.

Yup, its cruel and barbaric. But hey! It's cultural differences innit? Kill a fox an the chattering classes go on the rampage. Kill a million sheep by cutting their throats an letting them bleed to death and there's a deafening silence! And we're all eating it, you, (not me, I'm veggie) your kids, your grandkids, all being force fed the stuff just so we can appease the liberal elite.

I particularly enjoyed the picture of Russell Brand, arch anarchist, arch Socialist. The same Russell Brand who lives in a £3 million pound house by the Thames and who has just had a new indoor pool and sauna installed. Don't see too much equality with the masses there.

That will depend on what your political persuasion is and what is important to you. Against my better judgement, I'm inclined to vote Lib Dem simply because of the PM's approach to hunting wildlife with hounds.

The LibDem manifesto says it all, I couldn't do that.

They are actually insulting the electorate with 'free gift' politics. No integrity whatsoever. No mention of tuition fees so we'll do the same with education! Then there's the 'pet safety' bit; we'll introduce laws that already exist to protect your pet Iguwana! Stroll on.

Now, I can see exactly why they want to legalise cannabis, you'd needs to be out of your head to vote for that lot.

That is going to a free vote. I think there are more important things to worry about. Such as; do you want Corbyn or May?

Whatever you think of Benyon he is the best option if you want a Tory. If you want a party of social justice then either of Labour or the Greens are a good vote, and my personal choice is with Labour who have some great policies.

Nice false paradox. I don't know whether Russell Brand is a socialist or anarchist, and they're mutually incompatible so he won't be both, but more to the point you imply that there's an inconsistency with a socialist living in a £3million house, and there isn't. There would be an inconsistency with a socialist government creating a society which supported an elite at the expenses of the poor and didn't expect everyone to pay their fare share, which didn't create equality of opportunity, and which didn't provide a good standard of education, health care, and public services free at the point of use, but none of that prevents the talented and industrious from becoming wealthy unless they plan to do it without paying their way.

The trouble is those policies (of Labour) are not backed up (supported) by the PLP or former labour voters across the country. The whole point of having "great policies" is to inspire, not revolt the public into voting for the Tories.

I just think it's hilarious that he's preached about "wealth inequality" , it's easier to be a revolutionary when you're living in a mansion.

I'm not positive but I'm sure if you approached those people whose lives have been totally disrupted by the southern rail fiasco they may not be supportive of ceding more power to the unions.

Myself I'd sooner not be taxed to pay for Trident and I'd sooner see that £200Billion invested in peaceful civil science and engineering research, and I'd particularly like to see an end to the university gravy-train where half the youth of the country are obliged to run up £50k of student debt just to get a Desmond in something vocational that they could have picked up in a two-year B-Tec at their employer's expense.

Like? I could write a manifesto that people liked. I think we all could!! 26% Corp tax and a Robin Hood tax will empty the city faster than the worst possible brexit deal. Hence tax revenues will actually fall... And borrowing will 🚀...

Like? I could write a manifesto that people liked. I think we all could!! 26% Corp tax and a Robin Hood tax will empty the city faster than the worst possible brexit deal. Hence tax revenues will actually fall... And borrowing will 🚀...

Here are the tax-rates in Europe for comparison and you'll see that a rate of 26% is pretty reasonable and still a better deal than in most of Europe.

Err... Corbyn will be Red Lens puppet. Power to the people!!! Unions will be striking for huge pay rises and Corbyn will give in every time.

You haven't actually answered the question.

You haven't actually answered the question.

The "power" will be unseen and not written down. As you well know. You scratch my back... etc. You believe in fairy dust, money trees, and free Unicorns for all if you like Simon. I think its a crock of sh1t. And as for the shadow cabinet. I wouldn't trust them to run the proverbial p1ss up in a brewery.

Hollande tried to soak the rich, ended up a disaster. But hey, why not? Makes a good soundbite and with the easy familiarity with numbers some of the shadow cabinet have demonstrated, it might just work.

The unions are the fist in corbyn's velvet glove. That's why they put him in power.

That is going to a free vote. I think there are more important things to worry about. Such as; do you want Corbyn or May?

That's the trouble with today's politics in the UK; it's now Presidential. Far to many think it's an electoral college, and MPs elected simply to appoint the PM.

Jeremy Corbyn would be first to agree, he isn't the Labour Party and doesn't dictate its policies. I'm not sure Mrs May could say that with any conviction.

(Tim Farron knows he's not the LibDems but he does in LibDem style make up policy - literally.)

I'm not positive but I'm sure if you approached those people whose lives have been totally disrupted by the southern rail fiasco they may not be supportive of ceding more power to the unions.

The Southern Rail fiasco is a classic example of what happens when a Tory government gets involved in industrial relations - Chris Grayling should have resolved this issue months ago by knocking heads together and finding a compromise solution. Instead he waffles in public while telling Southern in private to crush the union or risk losing the franchise. Now it's spreading to other franchises . . .
