Once again a large question mark hangs over the appellation "civilised" as applied to the human race . This is the very attitude that gives oxygen to the fundamentalist's position and can only harden the already widening gulf .

Surely any anonymous response should have been dropped straight in the bin without even reading it? As for the others, they should have been published, with full details, just like any other, hiding them is not the answer. Only defamatory or otherwise considered illegal communications should have been withheld and those put before the Courts. I see this not necessarily an indictment against our society, more a significant failure in our education system, where we now have significant numbers unable to express themselves, let alone think, in a reasonable manner

Do you mean think in a manner that you find acceptable? People have the right to protest as long as it is legal. Protesting that the area does not have enough parking is not in any way a bad thing.

I would suggest to you as well that most people would not want the establishment next door to them because it would be busy and noisy.
Would you? And be honest...

That's not the issue though. The issue is the language the objectors used.

Yes, of course people have the right to protest BUT if they break the law then they should be prosecuted. We seem to agree on that then.

It is also blindingly obvious to most, that unless a protest is effective, then it's wasted and likely to create the reverse effect.

Your contention that 'most people would not want the establishment next door' is simply ungrounded. I could well argue that only a violently voiciferous (from their communications) poorly educated (from their demonstrable written debating) element would agree with that.

Personally? There are many other noisome ventures I'd not want next door. That includes busy pubs, late service takeaway food shops, people running their own business and using their home as a depot, business premises with garish signage and or illumination. Etc.etc.

So, I wholly agree, if is clear that there will be a significant increase in traffic and parking problems that is certainly worthy of protest. Can you imagine what people would think if I protested against a proposed busy pub venture in the manner suggested here?

I have no qualms about that. If scum don't even put there name to "letters" and then proceed to be islamophobic then a big bonfire should be in order. I would not want pc plod though spending stupid amounts of money trying to track down the said culprits of this "hate crime". Most likely they are either uneducated kids or drunk racists.

I would "hope" that WBC got involved properly with this and granted the rights to build such a said establishment in an undeveloped area where the religious could do what need to in peace without interfering with non believers who want to park.😉

But we don't know what was written though. People find the strangest things to get upset about, point in question, headteachers have been told not to call female pupils 'girls' or 'ladies' as it might cause anxiety. Seriously?

The newres view of the world is simples.

If you don't agree with me you are thick.

Its a bit sad really.

And in other news sleeping beauty is to be banned... As you guessed it the Prince did not obtain permission before kissing her. Sex pest.

New scientific discoveries!!

It has been know for some years now that modern man (homo sapiens) has within his DNA matrix a small but significant amount of neanderthal DNA, for most of us its around 2 - 4%, but startling news is now emerging that in some individuals the ratio can be even larger. Recent tests show a single test subject known only as 'newres' had a truly incredible 80% neanderthal DNA code. The remaining 20% turned out to be potato.

Your point is , one surmises , that Neanderthal Man was quite intelligent and probably disappeared owing to ethnic cleansing by the less than compassionate Homo Sapien . The potato on the other hand went on to be one of the most important vegetables on the planet

Again, can you direct us to this piece of research so we can adopt our own synonyms to use with it.

Neanderthal was sadly not the brightest, not a great tool maker and had vestigial if any language skills. Today's thinking is not some kind of stone age Holocaust but rather that sapiens interbred with Neanderthals which explains the remnant DNA in our gene pool. Interestingly enough this DNA is almost absent in people of African descent. Interestingly, there are records from the Pyrenees in I believe the 18th century of sightings of what look suspiciously like a Neanderthal male. Which fits with the belief in some quarters that small pockets of ancient people still existed within the deeply forested pockets of Europe.
As you say, we all came from the same primordial ooze, it's just that the liberals are still struggling with the whole evolution bit. laugh.gif

Pseudoscience is the missuse of science, the article appears to be simple satire and fiction, perhaps as a retaliation by right-wingers being accused of lacking certain skills others take for granted.

Pseudoscience is the missuse of science, the article appears to be simple satire and fiction, perhaps as a retaliation by right-wingers being accused of lacking certain skills others take for granted.

"Certain skills others take for granted"? Care to elaborate? I'd love to know why newres thinks he is more intelligent than the likes of je suis and me (without resorting to google)...

I think more open minded and fair minded. Above, rather than accepting that many objections would have been racist and full of hate and condemning it, your response was more or less can you blame them and it’s all probably exaggerated.,

You are the least "open minded" person on this forum.

My post is a suggestion, not a statement of fact, besides lacking some skills doesn’t mean one is not intelligent. Autisum doesn’t mean thick for instance.

Not sure about that. I am tolerant indeed open minded about everything except intolerance. So for example whilst I think Muslims that drive vehicles into innocents walking on Westminster Bridge are bad, I don’t arrive at the conclusion that ALL Muslims are bad or that their religion makes them bad. Equally I understand why unfettered support of Israel and widespread slaughter of innocents by drone attacks radicalises some Muslims and leads them to murder here. Is that not open and fair minded?

How can that be to “sum up” when you’re including things I never mentioned?

So do you "understand" why evil right wing extremists like Thomas Mair commit atrocities? In the same way that you understand the muslim extremist mentality? I'm just interested.

No, I have no understanding why someone should kill an MP in support of Brexit. Do you?

No. Though I have no understanding why muslim terrorists kill innocent people either. Thats where we differ. Both are equal crimes in my opinion.

So invasion and mass slaughter in no way explain why some people because me radicalised? That’s exactly why you aren’t open minded!

I can’t understand how anyone could kill, but I’d say a reaction to the above is more reason that a democratic vote on Brexit.

So I guess when Muslim terrorists commit mass slaughter you should expect indigenous people where the slaughter is commited to also become radicalised? And we should understand? Same logic.

You mentioned Thomas Mair, not me. Well I’d say the right wing attacks in response are as unacceptable as the extreme Muslim attacks. But I’d still say that the root cause is western terrorism in the Middle East and that if that stopped the attacks here would stop. Don’t you think they would?

One good thing if Corbyn ever gets elected is that he will totally re-examine our role in the Middle East which in time I’m sure will make us all safer.

Put your Google head on again (as you often do) and enter "what do ISIS want (to achieve)" or "what do terrorists want" and see what comes up!
