Walking through Victoria Park lunch time was impressed by the number of people enjoying all the facilities. Including the new bike thing - where they were actually queueing! Really great - we're clearly getting something right in Newbury. There has been a fair debate about building a pavilion on one edge (I'll say now, I'm neither for or against) which would necessarily remove some of the park.

However, passing under the bridge, it struck me that it wouldn't take too much to replace the moribund football club with a new purpose built 'mini stadium' Simply a crescent with a few terraces where seating could be installed - and games / open air shows etc (including football) could be put on. The Pavilion could then be sited under the terracing.

This would help extend Victoria Park and give us a new multi purpose open air facility as well as the pavilion.

Something a little different - for little more than the pavilion cost! Just a thought.

You would be no good working for the council. "Thoughts" would be alien to them.

I suppose so - that does seem to sum up local politics in West Berks. Where things are done to rather than for the local people!

Good idea OtE. Any kind of building in that area is a bit suspect with the flooding risk, but integrating the pavillion with the football club sounds like an excellent idea.

Nothing wrong with the sentence other than I rushed it and didn't check back (i.e. typing error).

Is that what you do when working for the council; nitpick? It is a pity you didn't have anything intelligent to add to this debate. After all, you work for the council... or do you just take its money?

Would you consider your previous comment to be intelligent comment and furthering the debate; accusing the council of being vacuous?

Yeah yeah, you got it, spot on, as usual!

Oh except I don't work for NTC and your first sentence is a self contradiction and I have nothing to do with finance, apart from that a very worthwhile addition to the debate.................

Can't Bill answer for himself without you always defending him? You always pop up when somebody says any comment to Billy boy. I know you are 'close' mates... but....

As for 'furthering the debate' no more than you do.

Bill can answer for himself, as he did. As for close mates, no we are not. I did see your post as being unreasonable though.

Not be a silly billy... of course he can't answer for himself. Now you are verging on the ridiculous. Besides, I like you answering for him. In other circumstances I would pay you... but as you are giving a voluntary service I say; thanks chum.

i wonder what mileage we will get out of this silly debate? I suppose it depends on how bored we are.... wink.gif
