Congratulations to those pupils who have performed well in your recent exams.

I wonder what the pass rate would be if the same pupils were given the A level examination papers from the 1970s? |

No, the exams must be really difficult as many of the pupils will be a taking a gap year to recover - poor soles..
Can I have a gap please, I've been working for 30 years and only had the odd weeks holiday in any one year, so I must be due a whole year off by now

Having seen some of the work / effort by students over last 10 years, in my view, the 1970's papers would be a doddle. Today, education is much broader - it's just a crying shame that the UK economy isn't geared up to exploit it. -------------------- Know your place!

Some companies look to see what employment candidates did in their gap year. Not all stay in bed or go on a wild drug fuelled binge.

By the same token some companies may also rather employ someone who doesn't need a years break every 24 months, and that's with 13 weeks holiday a year as well - hard life being a student

A gap year, means a gap in education. Some use the time for recreation, others to travel and some to work. |

The local schools have also done a good job this year. Some results exceptional and none less than respectable. Considering they also have to do a good two years independently assessed course work as well - I think our Students well deserve congratulation. I know I'd have trouble trying to meet today's standards.
