http://www.newburytoday.co.uk/News/Article...articleID=12879Do you think these serve any purpose? Will it keep the offender out of Newbury? I doubt it very much... Also and I quote... 'He will also be prohibited from using intimidating, abusive or threatening words or gestures towards any person in a public place.' I would have thought we were all prohibited from doing this or is it Ok now for Joe Public to use intimidating, abusive or threatening words or gestures when in town?

He should have been put in prison. He is obviously a danger to the public. This sentence only serves to put the public at risk from someone who clearly doesn't give a to*s about the law.

How is he going to be prohibited? Would you know him if he did it to you. These punishments are an joke and we are all crazy to put up with it. Which of the parties standing in the forthcoming general election will do something about it?

QUOTE (JeffG @ Mar 31 2010, 11:52 AM) How are we to know who this person is if they don't publish a photo as well? At least then a breach of the ASBO could be reported. Surely that would be an infrinement if his human rights. I thought you were a liberal?

I had trouble from him. He attacked somebody's house with snow balls and the person who was living inside as well. When reported to the police they did nothing. In fact they weren't even interested. ASBO's won't work. To some they are like a badge of honour. many kids were I live have been slapped with ASBO's and are still running around causing trouble.

He has been banned from the town centre, an area with a fair Police presence, security people and CCTV. Dont think he is the type to sit at home watching Corrie so, if he obeys the order, he will be causing problems near one of our houses. Should have been sent down.

Yes we are all prohibited - but only likely to be fined or cautioned if we offend. Having an ASBO ups the available penalty quite considerably. As an aside, as a governor of the school concerned, I dealt with this young man's various exclusions. He was a violent bully then.
