Just sitting here at Turin Towers watching my zero hours slaves manicuring my rolling acres with nail scissors and it occurred to me, I haven't seen any police patrols out lately stopping drivers to test them, have you? And why? When drink driving has become so anti social (along with not wearing seat belts) why has the same not applied to using mobiles? And come to that speeding? Just seems odd that we can reduce our risk level by applying common sense in some things but not others. Odd that.
What driving restrictions would you lot most like to see enforced, given that the boys in blue can't do everything? Answers on a postcard please. Political rants will go on the fire unopened!

With the cuts in Police budgets we seem to have survived reasonably well. I'm not convinced that random Police checks do very much at all. Far better to use a combination, using the latest portable technology. Can all be achieved in the existing budget.

The stock in trade response is to " educate " people as to why they should not speed , drink , use mobiles etc . Once some erudite lacky has stood before a camera and uttered a few niceties on the matter all is well . Simples .

Ironic that he's the one campaigning for a "safer" A34 after the accidents on that road caused by mobile phone use! rolleyes.gif

Would loved to have been a fly in the googles of the motorcycle cop who pulled Beynon over for using his phone in the traffic queue .
" Scuse me Sir but are you aware it as offence to use a mobile device whilst in charge of a motor vehicle ?".
" Of course officer I am an MP ".
"An M what Sir ?
" P man P .
" No need to get personal Sir , I am going to issue you with a statuary summons to attend a magistrates court ".
" Drive carefully now " . tongue.gif

Of course , after all he was elected by the sane members of the great unwashed and therefore entitled to be treated accordingly .
I wouldn't mind so much if he held his hand up and admitted to being an f ing idiot but oh no , we get the " man in my position " grovelling as though somehow he is different to the rest of us .
Maybe he is . wink.gif wink.gif

He is. Silver spoon. Family fortune. Owns half of West Berkshire. Never been impressed since the days when he was in charge of fisheries and couldn't name the fish.😂

Err, what do we want him to be doing? Boasting about how profitable his business is, what a big expensive car and boat he's got, and the resort he spent his holiday? That's the Tory way, so I can understand the gripes laugh.gif

For us little people, it could have been a blessing in disguise. Having to rely on public transport to get about in West Berkshire might just have graphically demonstrated the dire state it's reached to him personally. Somehow I doubt it; if you are well heeled enough to regard the cost of taxi's or private hire cars as a minor irritation, it's not going to be much of a lesson, let alone deterrent. Again, no surprise, that's the Tory way!

"Loads a money" fakers. People who need to brag about how much money they are worth, how important a job they have, how big a business they have etc. are usually the Walter Mitty types! Nearest they have got to a life afloat is probably on the boating lake in Viccy park and as for holidays, Butlins at Skeggy for 10 days.

Still it keeps them amused and whilst day dreaming on this forum they are not causing havoc elsewhere are they! rolleyes.gif

Seasons Greetings to all!

I've never boasted, merely stated, usually when provoked or simply when asked. Unlike others who openly flaunt their lefty credentials. Jealousy howeveris a green eyed god.

That might be how you see things, but the truth is well documented in this forum.

It may be for you you little ******. I'm proud of what I've got, jealous retards don't understand having pride in ones achievements. Probably because you've got nothing to be proud of.

Having, supposedly, a large wedge a large boat and I expect lots of bling on display is probably not too much to be proud of is it? Most of the better achievements in my opinion have been made by people who have had very little material gains and certainly do not brag about it on a small provincial newspaper forum! Still it's a free world still, at the moment so crack on. rolleyes.gif

I'm sure you are very proud of your possessions, but it doesn't mean anyone else is desperate for the same thing.

The old chap who lives next to my Aunt has no car, a little semi, doesn't have holidays. Spends his time working for a disability charity - who recently gave him a long service award. Has had his paintings displayed at the Royal Acadamy and is a concert level pianist; still called. I doubt if you'd be jealous of these achievements.

Mr Beynon made a mistake and has made and has accepted the consequences also he has said he is sorry.

If it had been a non-know local person would you all have made such a fuss?.

We all make mistakes and that should be the end of the story.

How about praising him for some of the good things he has done.
